New Members named to American Red Cross board of directors
Three local businesses have been added to the American Red Cross, Lorain County Chapter Board of Directors: Adwoa Baxter of Timless Roofing in Vermilion, Heidi Finniff of PNC Bank in Elyria and Joel Sinegar of Geisel Heating and Air Conditioning in Elyria. The new members will be part of the volunteer board that oversees the delivery of servies that meet the Red Cross mission of helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and emergencies.
Country Diner and Deli opens for business
Country Diner and Deli, 3110 Cleveland Road, Huron, is now open. The business is owned by brother and sister Shane and Melissa Jordan.

LORAIN – Five years ago, when Lorain voters halted Wal-Mart’s attempt to build a store along Cooper Foster Park Road, company officials said they wouldn’t give up trying to enter Lorain.
Today, a new Walmart is under construction at the Lighthouse Village Shopping Center, 4380 Leavitt Road on Lorain’s west side. (VIDEO)

LORAIN – This is a year of milestones for Lorain High School, old and new.
It’s the 50th anniversary of the last class to graduate from the old Lorain High School while it was still the city’s lone public high school, before the opening of Admiral King High School in 1960.

LORAIN - The final graduating classes of Lorain’s Admiral King and Southview high schools walked across the stage to receive their diplomas on June 1 and 2. Some call it the end of an era. Others call it a new beginning. One thing is certain: both schools have generated many fond memories.
